Rope Rescue - Initial Actions

A

*Determine the method of access
**Reposition and access from the bottom, descend on foot, or use a two-rope system.
*Position engine for use of anchors
*If the rope is needed for descent, establish the following:
**Construct a two-rope system
**Red line Tender - Firefighter, Yellow line Tender - Engineer, and Initial Rescuer – Paramedic
*Safety checks prior to loading system
*Lower Initial Rescuer, make contact with victim
*Initial Rescuer provides updates on victim status and resource needs
*Assigns key positions when additional resources arrive on scene
**RGS, Med Grp, Safety Officer.
