Kelman (1958)
Compliance -
When individuals go along with a group to gain approval or avoid the disapproval, engage in social comparison and adjust actions to fit in. Fitting in drives their conformity, Does not result in any change in their underlying behaviour just the views in public.
Conformity -
The change of someone’s public or/and private attitudes to a majority influence
Identification -
Might accept an influence so they want to be associated with another person or group, has elements of both internalisation and compliance.
Internalisation -
May go along with a group due to the acceptance of their views. May accept because what they offer in terms of an attitude or behaviour is consistently similar with their own values.
