What is investigator effects -
When something about the investigator has had an effect on the behaviour of the participants. Leading the participants to act differently than how they normally would. May include researchers characteristics, behaviour or expectations.
Researchers characteristics -
There, age, gender, social class and ethnicity as examples.
Researchers behaviour -
How they interact with the participant and their body language with them for example tone and body language.
Research expectations -
May consciously or unconsciously convey their expectations to the participants leading to a self-fulfilling prophecy. A good way to counter this is the double blind technique
Double blind technique -
Hiding from both the participants and research assistants which conditions the participants are in.
