What is a depressant
A substance that lowers the level of physiological or nervous activity in the body
Stimulant
A substance that raises alterness sedative- a drug that has a calming ir sleep inducing effect

The choices we make about how we live and behave that impact on our health
What is the defintion of health high density lipoprotein (HDL)
Sometimes known as good cholesterol, removed bad cholesterol from the body
What is the definition of health and wellbeing
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity’. Wellbeing is ‘the state of being comfortable, healthy or happy
What is physical health
Good physical health is linked to fitness – being able to perform effectively the physical tasks involved in life as well as sport.
What is emotional health
Emotional – or mental – health is linked to personal wellbeing – feeling positive about yourself.
What is social health
Social health also contributes to wellbeing – feeling positive about interactions with other people and the wider world.
The positive impact of fitness on wellbeing
- Help you cope with physical side of life
- Lowers risk of psychological illness
- Helps with body composition
- gives you stronger bones
The negative impact of fitness on wellbeing
-Puts you at risk of sport-related injuries
- Time off to recover can lead to mental illness
- Competitive pressure can lead to mental illness - Early specialisation can reduce
Why is a balanced diet important
A balanced diet includes eating the right amount of neutreints and not just the right amoint of food. It provides our bidy with the right amount of energy.
