Soc 21- Planes And Axes Of Movements Flashcards
What are planes?
-planes are theoritical divisions that divide the human body into sections
Defenition:an imaginary flat surface that divides the body into sections
What are sagittal plane? Movements? Defenition? And example?
The sagittal plane divides the body in left to right, insulting in a left side and a right side.
Movements-flex and extension(forwards and backwards)
Defenition:an imaginary line dividing the body vertically into left and right side
Example:a gymanstics athlete performing a somersault
What are frontal plane?movement?defenition?example?
The frontal plane divides the body in front to back, resulting in a front and back
Movements-adduction and abduction (sidewards)
Defenition:an imaginary line dividing the body vertically from front to back
Example:a gymnastics athlete perfoming a cartwheel
What are transverse planes? Moevemnt? Defenition? Example?
The tranverse plane divides the body across the middle giving a top and bottom section.
Movement: rotation
Defenition: an imaginary line dividing the body horizontally from top to bottom
Example: a trampolinist perfoming a twist
What are axes and defenition?
Our joints rotate around axes. And these axes allow movements to takenplace in one of the planes.
Defenition: an imaginary straught lune around which something turns
What is frontal axis? Movement? Defenition? And what plane does it link too?
Frontal axis from side to side
Movement: flexion and extension (somersault)
Defenition: imaginary line passing horizontally through the body from left to right, allows flexion and extension
Sagittal plane—-frontal axis
What is sagittal axis?movement?defenition?what plane does it link too?
Sagittal xis runs from front to back
Movement: aduuction and abduction (cartwheel)
Defenition: imaginary line passing horizontally through the body from front to back, allows adduction and abduction
Frontal plane—–sagittal axis
What is vertical axis?movement?defenition?what plane does it link too?
Vertical axis runs from top to bottom
Movement: rotation (twist on trampoline)
Defenition: imaginary line passing veryically through the body, allows rotation of the body in an upright position
Transverse plane—–vertical axis
