Smooth muscles are located in the walls of internal organs such as the
Digestive tract, blood vessels,and ducts leading from glands.
Fxn of smooth muscle?
To move and control the flow of fluids through those structures.
Why are smooth muscles known as involuntary muscles?
Because they are under control of the autonomic nervous system and are not under voluntary control.
Why are smooth muscles also known as unstriated muscles?
Because they do not have the dark and light bands that produce the striped appearance seen in striated muscles.
Why are smooth muscles also known as visceral muscles?
Because they are found in hollow structures such as those of the digestive and urinary systems.
What does visceral mean?
Relating to the internal organs. These muscles are found in large internal organs, with the exception of the heart
