Q

Cavernous sinus

A

Situated bilaterally on each side of the sella turcica on the upper body of the phenoid
Lies both beneath and lateral to pituitary gland
Each sinus extends from superior orbital fissure in front to the apex of the PETROUS part of temporal bone behind
Both opthalmic and maxillary divisions of the trigeminal nerve run forward of the lateral walls of sinus
Both 3rd and 4th CN run through the lateral wall of the sinus
