Liver Flashcards
What lies in hepatoduodenal ligament
- Hepatic portal vein
- Hepatic artery proper
- Common bile duct
What is the hepatic portal vein formed by
- Splenic vein
- Superior mesenteric vein
Just posterior to neck of pancreas, behind hepatic artery and common bile duct
Supplies 75% of all bloodflow to the liver
The IVC lies posterior to its origin
Pringle manoeuvre
Compression of the portal vein and hepatic artery in the edge of the lesser omentum (hepato-duodenal ligament)
Compressing anterior wall of foramen in Winslow
Blood supply of the liver
25% of the resting cardiac output
- Hepatic artery a branch of the celiac axis 25%
- Portal vein 75%
- caudate lobe - hepatic portal vein (trains directly into inferior vena cava) and artery
Normal portal pressure
5 to 8 mmHg
Foramen of Winslow (epiploic foramen)
Passage of communication between greater sac and lesser sac
- Anterior - hepatoduodenal ligament
- Posterior - peritoneum covering inferior vena cava
- Superior - peritoneum covering caudate love of liver
- Inferior - peritoneum covering the commencement of the duodenum and the hepatic artery
- Left lateral - gastrosplenic ligament and splenorenal ligament
Caudate lobe of liver
Posterior hepatic segment 1
Common bile duct
Formed by the common hepatic duct and cystic duct
Lies in free edge of lesser omentum anterior to portal Vein and to the right of hepatic artery
Passes posterior to the 1st part of the duodenum with gastroduodenal artery of its left before opening into the second part
What is the cystic artery a branch of ?
Right hepatic artery (branch of hepatic artery - branch of celiac trunk)
Branches of celiac trunk
- Hepatic artery
- Splenic artery
- Left gastric artery
