skeletal system-gross anatomy-appendicular skeleton(126 bones) Flashcards
what makes up the pectoral girdle and what are they’re processes?
Scapula (2): Acromion process
Clavicle (2): articulates
with acromion and with
manubrium of sternum
what is the only bone in the upper arm?
Humerus
what are the 2 bones of the forearm?
Radius and ulna
palm facing forward=radius right and ulna left
what are the 2 parts of the proximal end of the radius?
◦ Head rotates in radial
notch of ulna.
◦ Radial tuberosity: site
of biceps brachii
insertion
what are the 2 parts of the distal end of the radius?
◦ Articulates with
carpals and ulna
◦ Styloid process
what are the 3 parts of the proximal end of the ulna?
◦ Trochlear notch: fits over trochlea of Humerus
◦ Olecranon process: point of elbow
◦ Coronoid process
what are the 2 parts of the distal end of the ulna?
◦ Head articulates with radius and
with carpals
◦ Styloid process
how many carpal bones does the wrist have?
eight carpal bones
how many metacarpals are in the hand?
5(one for each finger)
what are the bones that make up all phalanges (except the thumb)
metacarpals
proximal phalanx
middle phalanx(thumb doesn’t have the middle phalanx)
distal phalanx
what are the bones that make up the pelvic girdle?
Coxal bones and sacrum form ring
Pelvis: pelvic girdle and coccyx
Hip bones: Right and Left
Acetabulum: articulates with head of femur
what are the 3 hip bones?
◦ Ilium (large disks of pelvis)

◦ Pubis(inner part of ring at the bottom of pelvis)
what are the 2 parts of the thigh?
Femur
Patella or kneecap: sesamoid
what are the 3 parts of the femur?
◦ Head: articulates with acetabulum
◦ Neck
◦ Trochanters
where is the patella located?
