A
  • Improve relations between British and Muslims, by removing doubts and misconceptions about the other.
  • Improve the social and economic position of the Muslims, by receiving a western education.
  • Increasing the political awareness of the Muslims, so they could realise their position, and threats from the British Hindu cooperation.

Work

A
  • Wrote the “Loyal Muhammadins Of India” to defend Muslims from British slanders.
  • Wrote “Essay on the causes of the Indian Revolt”, to convince the British that blaming the Muslims for the revolt was wrong.
  • Plus he highlighted the true reasons for the uprising;
    1) Poor Management of the Indian army
    2) forced conversations
    3) lack of Indianan Representation in Govt

Wrote the “Tabyyan Ul Kalaam”, which highlighted the similarities between the Muslims and Christians, and a commentary on the bible.

Established the “Tahzib-e-Ikhlaq”, which comprised of articles from Muslims.

Two Nation Thoery

A
  • SAL, was against Parliamentary Democracy, as Muslims were a minority which could lead to violence.
  • He wanted peace between, the Muslims and Hindus, but the latter weren’t interested.
  • He feared that if the British were to leave India, that would leave the Muslims, susceptible to Hindu influence.
  • Due to these reason he asked for the two groups to be treated separately, on account of their differences.
  • He was the first to express this view.
  • This led to anticipation of Pakistan.
