  • Announced on August 16th
  • Calcutta was given to India, despite being surrounded by Muslims areas
  • In Punjab, Ferozpur and Gurdaspur were given to India, both with Muslim Majorities
  • By awarding Gurdaspur to India, they now had a border with Kashmir, making future disputes inevitable

  • Muslims were disappointed
  • Jinnah told Muslims that the award was
    “wrong, unfair, and perverse”
  • Partition had taken place earlier and not much could be done now
