What is THREATCON
Determines the condition for defense of US homeland and assets.
What is DEFCON?
Determines the posture of the military to prepare for likelihood of war.
What is FPCON?
Force Protection Condition. Designed to increase level defense against terrorist attack
What is FPCON based on?
Terrorist threat level, capability to penetrate, risk of terrorist attack, assets ability to execute, protected assets criticality.
What does is mean when a FPCON is set?
Mandatory when declared, implemented immediately, can be supplemented. Declaration, reduction, and cancellation remain with the commander issuing the order.
What is FPCON NORMAL?
General global threat possible terrorist activity exists, routine security posture.
What is FPCON ALPHA?
Increased general threat POSSIBLE terrorist activity, maintained indefinitely.
. What is FPCON BRAVO?
Increased or more PREDICTABLE threat of terrorist activity. Sustained prolonged affects operational capability.
What is FPCON CHARLIE?
Incident occurs or intel is received that attack is LIKELY. Prolonged creates hardship and affect activities of unit
What is FPCON DELTA
Terrorist attack has occurred or is IMMINENT. Not intended for substantial periods.
What is DEFCON
Defense Readiness Condition—alert posture used by USAF, developed by Joint Chief of Staff, unified, and specified combatant commands. Has 5 levels 5least to 1 most severe.
What is LERTCONS

What are the DEFCON levels?
DEFCON 5 – Normal peacetime readiness
DEFCON 4 – Normal, increased intel strengthened security
DEFCON 3 – Increase in Force readiness
DEFCON 2 – Further increase in readiness, but less then Max
DEFCON 1 – Maximum force readiness
