Pilot on board: Who has ultimate responsibility?
The master
What is the Pilots Duty?
To assist a bridge team with pilotage through his superior local knowledge.
He/she should be fully integrated into the bridge team, with all pilotage plans to be agreed upon
Hour of Rest as stated by STCW
10 hours of rest per 24 hour period
No more than 2 periods
77 hours rest per 7 days
Should be posted in the Bridge, in an SEA, MLC manual, SMS
5 Important items in handing over a watch
Should take place with adequate time within the hour
Log to be completed by the oncoming officer
To be structured and not take place during a manoeuvre
The incoming officer should be well rested and fit for duty
