Schema Theory Flashcards
What is the schema theory?
Motor programmes are not stored as separate items but are stored in the LTM as relationships with motor programmes. These relationships are termed generalised movements
What are generalised movements?
Adaptations of movement that will transfer to influence the performance and learning of other skills
What is memory item 1?
Knowledge of initial conditions
Relates to previous experience of a similar situation
What is memory item 2?
Knowledge of response specifications
Involved knowledge of what to do in a situation
What is recall schema functions?
Store info about production of generalised movements
To start the movement
What is Memory item 3?
Knowledge of sensory consequences applies to kinaethesis
What is memory item 4?
Knowledge of movement outcome
Knowledge of what result of the skill is likely to be
What are the recognition schema functions?
Control of the movement
Evaluation of the Performance
Encouraging formation of schema
Varied practice and fun, enjoyment in training
Use training tasks which are relevant/ transferable into game
Feedback- give knowledge of results and encourage kinaesthetic feedback. Encourage self analysis
Give praise, incentives/ motivate
