What is the method for the osmosis practical?
-get 12 McCartney bottles and label 2 of each concentration of water, sugar solution
-get 12 pieces of potato, remove any skin, dry them and cut to equal sizes
-weigh them,place into McCartney bottles and record results
-add an equal amount of amount water to 0.1M-0.5M sugar solutions to the appropriately labelled bottle
-leave for the same amount of time
-remove the potatoes from their solutions
-dry them and record your results
What is an uncertainty in this experiment?
How could you minimise this?
The potatoes could not of been dried enough/still slightly wet so the weight will of increased more
Fully dry the potatoes
What is the hypothesis?
The concentration of sugar solution affects the mass of the potato
