how does education maintain capitalism through false class consciousness
Bowles and Gintis- myth of meritocracy
how does the correspondence principle transmit the rulling class principle
the correspondence principle teaches students to be obedient and docile however this is not taught directly to the students and is taught through the hidden curriculum like how school uniform teaches students hierarchy which teaches students to behave- parrels a workplace
how does cultural capital transmit the ruling class ideology
everyone has cultural capital however the content students are made to learn through education is cultural capital which the m/c is more likely to know- giving them an advantage in education.
how does the myth of meritocracy help maintain false class consciences
society states it meritocratic as everyone is given equal opportunities however it is not, e.g that your test results are up to the individual student however not all students have the same resources the results will not be equal or fair as the m/c have an unfair advantage, but the w/c is fooled to think it is, so we do not challenge the system
