streptococcus pyogense infection-> actiavtion of inate immune system
B and T cells produce IgG and IgM antibodies and CD4+ T cells are activated
type II hyperseneitivity reaction occurs
causes clinical feautes of rheumatic fever
diagnostic criteria for rheumatic fever
evidence of recent streptococcal infection and 2 major or 1 major and 2 minor symptoms
major criteria for rheumatic fever 5
erythema marginatum
sydenhams chorea
polyarhtitis
carditis and valvulaitis
subcutaneous nodules
minor criteria for rheumatic fever 4
raised ESR or CRP
pyreixa
arthralgia
porlonged PR interval
managment of rheumatic fever 2
oral penicillin V
NSAIDs (first line )
treat complications
