Respiratory System Flashcards
What does the respiratory system do?
Deliver oxygen to the bloodstream and takes away CO2
What does the nasal cavity?
It is lined with a mucous membrane that helps keep your nose moist by making mucus so you won’t get nosebleeds from a dry nose. There are also little hairs that help filter the air you breathe in, blocking dirt and dust from getting into your lungs.
What does the pharynx?
It connects the air that comes in to the trachea
What does the larynx?
It makes us breathe, talk, and swallow
What does the trachea?
connects the larynx to the bronchi of the lungs
Wha does the bronchi?
It is main passageway to lungs and it is the site of oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange in the respiratory system
What do the lungs do?
The lungs and respiratory system allow oxygen in the air to be taken into the body, while also enabling the body to get rid of carbon dioxide
What does the alveoli?
Alveoli are tiny sacs within our lungs that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to move between the lungs and bloodstream
