What are the types of mesothelioma and their prognosis?
A
Can be classified by cell type or location.
Cell type is epithelial, sarcomatoid or biphasic or rare types. Epithelial has best prognosis, sarcomatoid has worse prognosis. Rare types usually have poor prognosis.
According to location, can be pleural, pericardial, abdominal or testicular.
Abdominal has good prognosis followed by pleural. Pericardial has poor prognosis. Testicular has good prognosis but high rates of recurrence.
