A

or increased C02
this is due to a disorder of ventilation and hypoventilation
it is a balance between strength and load

What are things which affect strength?

A

impaired neuromuscular transmission
diminished drive- too much anathestic
muscle weakness: emphysema, exhaustion or neuromuscular problem
MND
GBS
poor muscle nutrition
over use of accessory respiratory muscles

A
chest wall abnormalities 
airway and lung abnormalities 
what is making it hard to breath
wheeze, consolidation, collapse, pulmonary oedema 
cystic fibrosis 
thoracotomy, decreased chest compliance 
rib fracture 
collapse, sputum. brochospasm
