Guillian Barre syndrome Flashcards
What is it?
Severe acute inflammatory demyelinating poly neuropathology which affects the peripheral nerves. This causes weakness and loss of sensation that usually recovers completely or almost completely after a few weeks or months.
It reaches the highest point of severity of nadir, before they then start to improve. Nadir is the lowest of the lowest point
Acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (AIDP)
the most common form. The most common sign of AIDP is muscle weakness that starts in the lower part of your body and spreads upward.
Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS)
in which paralysis starts in the eyes. MFS is also associated with unsteady gait.
Acute motor axonal neuropathy (AMAN)
absent of any sensory
Acute motor-sensory axonal neuropathy (AMSAN),
Both signs, rapid and severe motor and sensory problem where you have marked muscle wasting, poorer recovery with that type of GBS
