when a slight decrease in oxygen is detected within the tissues it results in a substantial unloading of the oxygen from the blood

Factors affecting it
A
increase in temperature shifts the curve to the right and they dissociate more readily
partial pressure of CO2 shifts curve to the right if hydrogen irons make it more acidic
anaemia- shifts curve to the right as it can’t pick oxygen up as readily
