lymphatic fluid arising from the intestines, containing a high fat*
increases systemic venous pressure
Pleural effusion clinical signs
Dyspnea
▪ +/- cough, fever, pleural pain
COCCIDIOIDOMYCOSIS
Coccidioides immitus* – soil fungus found in (valley fever
COCCIDIOIDOMYCOSIS clinical signs
▪ May not appear for weeks to years
after exposure*
▪ Mild, cough
▪ Low fever
▪ Anorexia, weight loss
▪ Skin lesions, lameness, soft-tissue swelling, and joint pain
COCCIDIOIDOMYCOSIS tx
▪ Long-term oral antifungals*
▪ relapse is common
PULMONARY NEOPLASMS or METASTATIC FOCUS which is more common
▪ Metastatic neoplasms are relatively common*
PULMONARY NEOPLASMS (METASTATIC FOCUS) clinical signs
▪ Any signs associated with the organ system involved in the primary tumor
PULMONARY NEOPLASMS (METASTATIC FOCUS) dx
▪ Radiographs
▪ not definitive
lesions <5mm
▪ 3 views
▪ Biopsy or cytology
▪ Provides definitive diagnosis
▪ ultrasound to guide
PULMONARY NEOPLASMS (METASTATIC FOCUS) tx
▪ Surgical removal of primary tumor
▪ Chemotherapy
▪ Many tumors are untreatable
