Resistance Welding and Fusion Welding (9) Flashcards
Resistance Spot Welding (RSN)
- Used with Lap Joints
- Cab be manual or automated (robotic welding of car bodies)
Resistance Spot Welding (RSW)
Similar to Spot Welding, one of the parts has small projections which concentrate heat at desired locations.
Resistance Seam Welding (RSEW)
Series of overlapping Spot Welds accomplished between the wheel electrodes.
Flash Welding (FW)
Produced by a flashing action and pressure. Brought together slow and smashed together. (Butt Joint)
Upset Welding (UW)
Pressure is applied before the current. No melting occurs.
Fusion Welding
The edge of the workpieces are melted and fused together. A filler metal is added to form the weld. The weld area forms a mold/basin for the molten filler metal to fill.
