Casting Equipment (5) Flashcards
Cupola Furnace
Chimney like, similar to a Blast Furnace
Crucible Furnace
- Made of graphite, silicon carbide or other refractory metal
- Produces small amounts; 0-100lbs of Non-Ferrous Metals
Pot Furnace
Permanently placed Crucible Furnace that can produce several hundred pounds of Non-Ferrous Metals
- Poured out directly into a Laddel
Reverberatory Furnace
Modern foundries used to melt Non-Ferrous Metals using gas-air or oil-air flames through nozzles in the side walls.
- Used in medieval times
Electric Arc Furnace
Produce high-density heat through electric arcs that’s are applied directly to the material between an electrode and the charged metal, or indirectly between the two electrodes above the charge.
Induction Furnace
Melts material through heat produced through Eddy Currents.
- Coils are built into the walls
