A system of beliefs that we use to explain our view of the world

The ideas principles and ethics that a political system in based on
What is individualism?
An ideology that emphasizes individual values such as independance, self interest competition, individual rights and freedoms, rule of law, private property, economic freedom
What are the values of Economic individualism?
Economic freedom, self-interest, competition
What are the values of Political Individualism?
Independance, individual rights and freedoms
What is to the left of the Political spectrum?
Liberal, Radical
What is to the right of the Political spectrum?
Conservative, Reactionary

Collectivism, economic equality and government intervention

Individualism, economic liberty, laissez faire government

They want to react to change and bring it back to the way it was

Wanting to create instant societal change

A government that emphasizes stability and continuity

An individualist who favored self interest
What did Thomas Hobbes believe?
That individualism is the problem, and that individuals should surrender their rights to a higher power so that peace could be acheived

The belief of Thomas Hobbes, that individualism is a problem and all individuals should surrender their rights to a higher power

He believed people were reasonable and intelligent and the government should interfere as little as possible in their lives

He believed that people are good but just corrupted by society. He believed that the government should have consent from the people to make laws
