-influenza will no longer be able to release replicated viral particles
Indications of Oseltamivir (Tamiflu)
For influenza A and B in the first 48 hours
When would oseltamivir be contraindicated?
Those with end stage renal disease
Is it okay to give the influenza vaccine along with oseltamivir?
no, it may interfere with the vaccines effectiveness
Is oseltamivir a substitute for the vaccine?
No

Oral pill form
ROA of zanamivir?
Powder for inhalation
Indications for Zanamivir?
Influenza A and B in those who are older than 7 and have not been sick for more than 48 hours
How is zanamivir eliminated from the body?
Almost exclusively by the kidneys, as an unchanged particle
Is zanamivir the best choice for influenza in those with milk allergy?
No, choose oseltamivir or peramivir
ROA of peramivir?
Injection
-P for perenteral
Indications for peramivir?
Acute (less than 48 hours), uncomplicated flu in those who are 18+
If pt is receiving peramivir and has renal impairment, what precautions should be taken?
Administer peramivir after dialysis at an adjusted dose
MOA of Baloxavir
Polymerase acidic endonuclease inhibitor
Indications for Baloxavir?
Acute (less than 48hrs) flu in those who are 12+
