what happens when we eat protein
our body breaks up/digest the protein molecules into individual amino acids
what are essential amino acids

how many essential amino acids do we need
there are eight that we cannot make in our body needed by adults and children and at least two extra ones just for children because they’re growing
what is high biological value protein
these are foods that contain all of the essential amino acid and that means they have great value to our body
what is low biological value protein
these are foods missing more than one essential amino acids
what is protein complementation
protein complementation is when a low biological value protein has mixed together another low biological value protein and if one is missing one essential amino acid and the other one has it done is put together
three functions of protein
- to make the body grow
- to repair the body
- to give the body energy
what are some natural substances in your body that are made from proteins
your hormones which make you grow and reproduce
enzymes which help you digest your food
antibodies which help your mean system fight infections from bacteria and viruses
name some high biological value protein

name some low biological value protein
lentils peas beans seeds cereals lentils rice oats
what are some protein alternatives
TVP, Mycoprotein, tofu
name some protein complementation

effects of deficiency of protein
Poor skin poor nails
children were not grow properly and never reach their full height
