How can a vaginal prolapse present?
What prolapses in this case?
What is the name for each?
Lump in vaginal wall
Can be bladder - cystocele
Can be urethra - urethrocele
Can be small intenstine (through failure of recto-vesicular (Pouch of Douglas)) - enterocoele
Can be rectum - rectocele
Patient with urinary incontience and on inspection you find 2nd degree uterine prolapse. What is 2nd degree?
What other degrees are there?
1st degree - just cervix into vagina
2nd degree - cervix nearing vaginal opening
3rd degree - cervix outside vagina
4th degree - uterus outside vagina
How is uterine prolapse fixed surgically?
Sacrospinous fixation
Via vagina - attach cervix via sutures to the sacrospinous ligament
