How do they appear histologically?
Can see spindle cells (smooth muscle cells)
How do they present?
Palpable pelvic mass
Infertility
Heavy bleeding

How can you investigate to exclude other causes of pelvic mass?
TVUS
What is the first line management?
IUS - only if uterus is not distorted and fibroids <3cm
What is the name for the surgery to remove fibroids?
What is the drug given to reduce fibroid size pre surgery?
Myomectomy
GnRH analogue
Where is the most likely site of fibroids?
Submucosal
What meds can be given to reduce bleeding?

Tranexmic acid - anti-fibrolytic - encourages clots
