PRINCE2 and Agile Flashcards
What is the difference between PRINCE2/PRINCE2 Agile and Agile
PRINCE2 and PRINCE2 Agile can only be used for projects. Agile can bee use for BAU operations.
How does Agile fit into PRINCE2?
PRINCE2 provides a framework to run the project and details good project documentation, but does not speciify how to deliver the project on a day-to-day basis. Agile slots into the MDP steps and guides product delivery.
Agile does not have the wider perspective of the entire project, but does guide best practise and day-to-day delivery of the project.
It is a blending rather than the two systems working in parallel.
A mixture of any Agile methodologies (Kanban, scrum, and lean start-up) can be used in MDP.
What are the Five Targets in Agile PM?
- Be on time and hit deadlines - Timely Delivery
- Protect the level of quality -Quality standards
- Embrace change - Change Adaptability
- Keep teams stable - Team Stability
- Adding people to the team can result in: increasing communication channels, need to spread knowledge and train leading to lower productivity, opportunity cost of the supplier of the new people, change team dynamics that need to be reestanlished
- Disrupts the self-organising aspect of Agile
- Accept that the customer does not need everything - Customer satisfaction
What are the five considerations one needs to make in a PRINCE2 Agile project?
- PRINCE2 is built to be compatible with Agile. Tailoring a PRINCE2 Agile project should not involve removing or adding core elements from the framework and methodology, but emphasising and de-emphasising certain aspects.
- PRINCE2 has a reputation for being bureaucratic and documentation-heavy. Despite this, PRINCE2 Agile can handle informal and fast-moving projects
- PRINCE2 and Agile are IT-focused, but can be used in any industry
- Scrum and Kanban are the most widely-used Agile methodologies. They do not specify the role of a PM and are insufficient to manage the whole project (just day-to-day delivery). They need to be employed within a PRINCE2 (or similar) framework.
- The degree of Agile integration into a team or project is a variable scale and not an all-or-nothing status
What should guide the level of Agile integration?
Experience and temperament of the customer
Level of Agile integration in the suppliers
Needs of project
Needs of project governance
