PRINCE2 Agile - Closing a Project Flashcards
How is CP managed in PRINCE2 Agile?
Closing a project falls in the last Managing Product Delivery phase.
It is less formal than in pure PRINCE2 due to the lower degree of formal reporting, and because products are handed over and tested as soon as they are ready. Agile products generally exist in an uncertain environment in which the end goal is not clear, so there is no defined end point and the decision to end the project is a more ad hoc decision.
The handover / project closure may be in the form of a workshop or demo where the product performance is analysed against the baseline. All stakeholders should be present and information from the information radiators used in the project should be provided.
How might closing a project look different in PRINCE2 Agile?
Benefits may already have been enabled due to frequent releases.
There will be less to evaluate due to continual and early delivery of products and regular collaboration.
Inspect and adapt means lessons have been responded to.
PM should write end stage report. Good to do this as your go along
What must one check in CP if using PRINCE2 Agile?
User acceptance is checked throughout, but it is important to take this seriously at the end of the project and confirm the product is viable.
PE still needs to check against the original baseline and most recent version of the project plan, evaluate the use of Agile, ensure formality of acceptance by the SU is appropriate (format and person), finalise documentation that has been created and updated incrementally.
How should the final workshop be managed
All stakeholders and project team present. Information from information radiators.
Final demo of the product to get sign off from the customer.
Follow-on actions assigned out.
Check project against baseline
Review use of Agile
How does terminating a project prematurely lend itself to PRINCE2 Agile?
One concept of Agile is fail and learn fast. The use of various Agile techniques such as timeboxing, Kanban, MVP, sprints, speeding up feedback, and early enablement of benefits, along with the PRINCE2 principle Manage By Exception will help the Agile team to spot when a project is not viable and terminate it early.
