causes of premature ovarian insufficiency

A
  • idiopathic
  • bilateral oophorectomy
  • hysterectomy with preservation of ovaries has also been shown to advance the age of menopause
  • radiotherapy/chemotherapy
  • infection: e.g. mumps
  • autoimmune disorders
  • Resistant ovary syndrome (FSH receptor abnormalities)
