Precourse ILT RCS Flashcards
What chemicals are added to the RCS and why?
Hydrazine to scavenge O2 Lithium for pH Hydrogen for scavenge O2 Hydrogen peroxide for crud burst Zinc acetate for corrosion control and dose reduction Boric Acid for reactivity control
What are the interlocks to open an RCS cold leg loop stop valve?
Hot leg LSIV must be open
Bypass valve must be open
75+ gpm through bypass relief line for 5+ hours
WR T-hot within 20F of highest operating loop T-hot
WR T-cold within 20F of highest operating loop T-cold
control switch to open
Boron ppm>SDM requirementsd of unisolated portion of RCS
What are the interlocks to open a hot leg loop LSIV?
Cold leg LSIV must be closed
Control switch to open
boron ppm > SDM requirements of unisolated portion of RCS
What are the RCS chemical limits per the TRM and LCOs for Dissolved Oxygen?
Applicable in Modes 1-4 with Tave > 250F
Steady State 100 ppb
Transient limit 1000 ppb
What are the RCS chemical limits per the TRM and LCOs for Chloride?
Steady state 150 ppb
Transient 1500 ppb
What are the RCS chemical limits per the TRM and LCOs for flouride?
Steady State 150 ppb
Transient limit 1500 ppb
How many temperature elements are there in each RCS loop?
T-Hot 3 NR 1 WR
T-Cold 1 NR 1 WR
What is the program Tave for each unit at Braidwood?
Unit 1 557-587F
Unit 2 557-581F
How is Tave calculated?
Average of three T-hot elements plus T-cold
Divided by 2
What kind of flow meters are used in the RCS loops?
Differential flow cells located in the elbow between SG and RCP suction
How many high pressure taps are used?
1 high pressure tap on the outer radius flow ~ D/P^1/2
measures static head plus velocity head
How many low pressure taps are used in each loop?
3 low pressure taps are located on the inner radius
low pressure measures static head only
What are the actions for violating RCS safety limit in Modes 1&2?
Reduce pressure and be in Mode 3 in one hour
