photosynthesis Flashcards
what do plants use as energy
light
what is the reaction to trap light called
photosynthesis
what kind of reaction is photosynthesis
endothermic
where does photosynthesis take place
in the leaves which contain chlorophyll and absorbs light
what does the plant take in through the leaf
water and co2
what is the light energy used to convert c- and w- into
what else is produce
the light energy is used to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen is also produced
photosynthesis equation
carbon dioxide and water ——–> glucose + oxygen
what is photosynthesis when light intensity is 0
photosynthsis is 0 as light is essential
as light intensity increases
as light intensity increases so does photosytnthesis
more light energy =
reaction gets faster
how can we tell light intensity was a limiting factor
if we increase light energy intensity and pts also increases, light intensity was almost a limiting factor
limitng factor light intensity on graph
if we keep increasing light intensity there comes a point where rate pts no longer increases - something elseis a limiting factor like co2
how does the amount of chlorophyll in a leaf affect pts
leaves with less chlorophyll trap less light energy so a lower rate of photosynthesis
how does tempurature affect photosynthesis
as tempurature increases enzymes will work faster so rate increases, if kept increasing enzymes will denature so rate falls
uses of glucose: r-
respiration: release energy
