What is somatic nervous system?
sensory and motor
What is the autonomous nervous system?
Neurons not consciously controlled
What is the sympathetic nervous system?
flight or fight response
What is the parasympathetic system?
returns the body to normal state after fight or flight response
What happens to the eyes during fight or flight?
they open up to let more light in.
What happens to the salivary glands during fight or flight?
close off blood which produces dry mouth
What happens to the lungs during ff response?
open up
What happens to the heart during ff response?
pumps faster and harder
What happens to the liver during ff response?
Pumps glucose into blood for energy, clotting factor in case of bleeding.
What happens to the stomach during ff response?
butterflies, no blood.
What about the intestines during ff?
stops working, no blood.
What is the peripheral nervous system?
Connects the brain to muscles, organs, and sensory.
