Q
What are some common irrational beliefs that people make?
A
- I must be perfect
- Its awful when things don’t turn out the way I expected. (different, not awful!) ( Don’t make assumptions on what could have happened)
- I must find the perfect solution to the problem. ( sometimes there are no perfect solutions so you have to choose the best one of the few presented and be okay with it. )
- Everyone has to approve of me ( Not everyone will like you, thats okay. As long as most people like you then you are fine.) (sometimes its simply personality differences)
- The past determines the future ( your perspective determines the future)
- Happiness just happens: NOT TRUE. ( you must work hard to be happy and not wait for good things to happen to you but rather go and seek out things that make you happy) (ex. actively seek out a spouse, go where people are, cultivate relationships. Dont isolate yourself and expect prince charming to come knocking at your door.)
