Addresses our view of the situation rather than the situation or the source itself
What does problem solving coping achieve?
Attacks the source of the stress
What is optimism?
Optimism is a coping method that allows us to view events as positive and therefore less stressful.
How do optimist view negative events?
External( don’t balm themselves)
Transient( temporary)
Surmountable ( not a catastrophe) something good will come of this
Aerobic exercise is a great coping mechanism. Why?
It creates the organ capacity so we’re not strained by negative events.
Increases NK and T cell counts
Creates a positive mood and increases sere ronin and endorphins
Protects against heart disease, hypertension, type II diabetes and stroke
Best done in moderation.. 1 hour 3-4 X a week has tremendous benefits
Extreme exercise decreases health and increases stress on the body.
