How do you tell if a Pelvic bone belongs to a Female?
- Pelvic Inlet is circular
- Pubic Arch is roughly a right angle
- The Ischial Spines are Straight
How do you tell if a Pelvic bone belongs to a male?
- the Pelvic inlet is heart-shaped–> because the Sacral Promontary is projecting more prominently
- Ischial Spines are more medially projecting
- Pubic Arch angle is very acute
What are the ligaments preventing the upward tilting of the sacrum?
- Sacrospinous Ligament
2. Sacrotuberous Ligament
What are the muscles of the Pelvic Diaphragm?
- Ischiococcygeus
- Iliococcygeus
- Pubococcygeus–> Puborectalis and Pubovaginalis/Puboprostaticus
What is the nerve supply to the Pelvic Diaphragm?
Nerve Roots S234 via direct branches and the Pudendal Nerve
What muscles make up Levator Ani?
- Iliococcygeus
2. Pubococcygeus–> Puborectalis and Pubovaginalis/Puboprostaticus
What are the parts of the Uterus?
- Fundus
- Cornu
- Body
- Cervix
Where is the Fundus of the Uterus?
Above the entrance of uterine tubes
Where is the Cornu of the Uterus?
Where the Fallopian tubes enter the body of the Uterus
What are the openings of the Cervix?
Internal and External Os
What are the layers of the Uterine Wall?
- Serosa

- Endometrium
What is the angle formed between the cervix and body of uterus?
Anteflexion–> Approx. 170 degrees
What is the angle formed between the cervix and vagina?
Anteversion–> Approx. 90 degrees
How long is the Vagina?
7-10cm
What kind of epithelium does the Vagina have?
Squamous Epithelium
What is the importance of the External Os?
It is a Squamocolumnar Junction
What are the Vaginal Fornices?
Recesses surrounding the cervix when it bulges into the Vagina–> There are 3, Anterior, Posterior and Lateral
How long is the Fallopian tube?
10cm

How is the Ovary attached to the Uterus?
By the Ligament of the Ovary
Where is the Ovarian Fossa?
Between internal and external Iliac Vessels
