Q

what is the nervous system response?

A

AUTONOMIC RESPONSE

  • sympathetics- product sticky salvia (FIGHT OR FLIGHT)
  • parasympathetics produce runny salvia (REST AND DIGEST)

8
Q

how does parasympathetic supply go from the jugular foramen to the parotid gland?

A

-CN IX descends down jugular foramen and sends branch into skull from middle ear to form the tympanic plexus
In middle cranial fossa - the lesser petrosal nerve runs out the foramen oval and comes out with V3 where it passes through otic ganglion synapse then auriculotemporal goes into the parotid gland
