PAPER 2 STAFF Flashcards
What did Bandura and Walter find out after a follow up study of the Bobo doll studies?
Bandura and Walter found that when they gave praise or punishment to the model this vastly altered how the children would imitate the behaviour.
When the model was punished the children were less likely to repeat the behaviour and vise versa.
This demonstrates the effect of vicarious reinforcement.
Leborgne studied by Paul Broca
Leborgne had suffered an epileptic attack and lost the ability to speak and could only say the world TAN. Broca discovered through post mortem examination that his frontal lobe was damaged , leading to a suggestion in the association between a specific brain area and a function. Subsqeunt research using an FMRI scan found that there were also more specific areas identified however Brocas area remained relevant
Karl Lashley + The holistic theory of the brain
When he removed the cortex from rat brains, they were still able to complete the maze suggesting that the brain works together to complete a function not via brain localisation.
Also supported by recovery after trauma where homologous parts of the brain can compensate for the damage suggesting that the brains can work together for the same function.
