What is the Mx if a child is suspected to have Subtle SE OR Other SE or a Seizure that has resolved?
If currently seizing, consult for IM Midazolam.
- BLS
- Monitor airway, ventilation, conscious state and BP
What is the Mx if a child is currently having GCSE?
- Mx airway and ventilation
- If patent airway, administer high flow O2
- IM Midazolam
Newborn = 0.5mg
Small/large infant (<12mths) = 1mg
Small child (1-4) = 2.5mg IM
Medium child (5-11) = 2.5 - 5mg IM
At what time can a further dose of midazolam be administered in a paediatric seizure, and what amount?
Same dose as original, can be repeated once only after 10 minutes.
If paediatric seizure acitivity ceases, what is the management?
- BLS
- Continue to monitor airway, ventilation, conscious state and BP.
What is the IM Midazolam dose for a seizing newborn?
0.5mg in 0.1mL
What is the IM Midazolam dose for a seizing infant <12mths?
1mg in 0.2mL
What is the IM Midazolam dose for a seizing small child?
2.5mg in 0.5mL
What is the IM Midazolam dose for a seizing medium child?
2.5 - 5mg in 0.5 - 1mL
