In paediatric anaphylaxis, what is the management?

A
  1. MICA Request
  2. Monitor cardiac rhythm
  3. Adrenaline 10mcg/kg IM
    - Rpt at 5 min intervals until satisfactory or SE’s
  4. High flow O2
  5. Consider nebulised salbutamol for bronchospasm
  6. Consider nebulised adrenaline for airway oedema
  7. Do not allow pt to stand/walk

  1. Transport
  2. Reassess en route
  3. Monitor for recurring symptoms

What note is made about refusal of transport?

A

If a pt <18 y.o has had a possible anaphylactic reaction they must be transported to hospital.

Is there a maximum dose of IM Adrenaline for paediatric anaphylaxis?

A

No. Continue to repeat initial dose until satisfactory or side effects occur.
