Place a source of white light at a specific distance to the pondweed .

Allow the pondweed to photosynthesize . As this process occurs oxygen will be collected at the capillary tube

At the end of the experiment the syringe is used to draw the gas bubbles into the tube alongside a ruler . The length of the gas bubbles are measured

Experiment is repeated twice with the light source at the same distance and the mean volume is calculated

The whole experiment is repeated with the light source at different lengths
