What is our solar system?
All the stuff that orbits the sun
Planets -
Large objects that orbit a star. The right planets in order: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune
Dwarf planets -
E.g pluto - planet-like objects that aren’t big enough to be planets
Moons -
Orbit planets with almost circular orbits
Type of natural satellite (not man-made)
Artificial satellites -
Usually orbit the Earth in fairy circular orbits
Asteroids -
Lumps of rock and metal that orbit the sun. Usually found in the asteroid belt
Comets -
Lumps of ice and dust that orbit the sun. Orbits are usually highly elliptical - some travel from near to the Sun to the outskirts of our solar system
