Inkjet Printer Flashcards
1
Q
1) what happens first?
A
Tiny droplets of ink are forced out of a fine nozzle, making them electrically charged
2
Q
2) what happens to the droplets?
What is applied to the plates?
A
- The droplets are deflected as they pass between two metal plates
- a voltage is applied to the plates - one is negative and the other is positive
3
Q
3) how do the droplets react to each plate?
A
- the droplets are attracted to the plate of the opposite charge and repelled from the plate with the same charge
4
Q
4) What happens to the voltage across each plate?
What happens to the droplets?
A
- the size and direction of the voltage across each plate changes so each droplet is deflected to hit a different place on the paper
5
Q
Final result
A
- loads of tiny dots make up your printout
