Find the Refractive Index of Glass a Using a Glass Block Flashcards
1
Q
What do you do first? (Draw)
A
Draw around a rectangular glass block on a piece of paper and direct a ray of light through it at an angle
2
Q
What do you do second? (Trace)
A
Trace the incident and emergent rays, remove the block, then drawn in the refracted ray between them
3
Q
What do you do third? (Normal)
A
Draw in the normal at 90° To the edge of the block, at the point where the ray enters the block
4
Q
What do you do fourth? (Protractor)
A
Use a protractor to measure the angle of incidence and the angle o refraction (angles made with the normal)
5
Q
What do you do fifth? (Calculate)
A
Calculate the refractive index using Snell’s Law
