connects the pulmonary artery with the aorta; causes blood to bypass the un-inflated lungs
ductus venosus
umbilical vein connects directly to the inferior vena cava by a specialized structure
foramen ovale
hole in the fetus’s heart between the right and left atria; allows mixing of the oxygenated blood in the right atrium with that leaving the left ventricle bound for the aorta
pelvic inflammatory disease
Infection of the female reproductive tract caused by bacteria, virus, fungus / organs involved are typically ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus
