Thank you, Your Honor. Mr. Suárez has lived in this community for 27 years, Your Honor, and he has been gainfully employed during all of that time. He has a large
family, seven children, ranging in age from 16 years old to just 9 months old. Not only that, but he supports his in-laws as well.

Mr. Suárez is a very hard-working man, and his
employer, Mr. Jordan, is here to vouch for him. He also attends church regularly, and I have here a letter from his parish priest, if the Court would care to look at it, to attest to his good character and reliability.

Until this unfortunate incident, Your Honor, Mr. Suárez had never been in trouble with the law. He is a fine, upstanding citizen, and we feel that holding him in custody until he is able to stand trial would be counterproductive. In fact, his family would have to pay the price for what we feel was an unlawful arrest.

his extended family lives here in the United States. He owns his own home here, and he is not likely to want to forfeit that by fleeing the country.

Your Honor, considering the nature of the offense, the Prosecution would oppose the O.R. motion. While it is true that Mr. Suárez has no criminal record, this is a sex
offense, and the victim is his niece.
