Nutrient metabolism Flashcards
1
Q
What is colipase?
A
- pancreatic co-enzyme that needs to be present for pancreatic lipase to function effectively
2
Q
What is the function of bile salts?
A
- emulsify larger lipid droplets into smaller ones to increase SA so enzymes can work
- form micelles which prevents the smaller droplets from aggregating and becoming larger droplets again
3
Q
Where are the cells in the body that have a high capacity for storing glucose as glycogen?
A
- skeletal muscle and the liver
4
Q
What is the fate of glucose that has been absorbed?
A
- broken down into ATP
- glycogenesis
- lipogenesis
- proteogenesis
